Oxford’s racist hypocrisy

Nathan Goldberg reports on the black Caribbean student entry row at Oxford University .

The movie, The Social Network, is all the rage.

The fascination is with the appalling Mark Zuckerberg and the compelling if nasty rise and rise of Facebook.

However there is another bit which has been sort of overlooked. The nastiness of America’s ivy league colleges such as Harvard.

They are elitist to the core, not in terms of educational merit, George Bush went to Yale for fuck’s sake, but in terms of who you are, who your family are and who you’re not.

Not Jewish is handy. Zuckenberg as a Jew found out. So in order to impress the racist clowns so he could join their trouser legs up and cocks hanging out circuses, he invented Facebook.

Even if it is not entirely true it is true.

However America will have to go a bit to keep up with the elitist and racist attitudes across the pond in the UK.

Oxford leads the way ion only admitting one student of of black Caribbean origin out of 3000 students last year which has sparked a racist entry row.

Caribbean blacks in the UK have long ago been pushed into the educational dustcart, and this gives Oxford its excuse.

Yes, it sincerely wants more diversity, but it can only be done on merit.

This argument is seemingly powerful because of the excruciating low attainment of Caribbean black students.

However, it a sad and bad argument. Oxford and other universities (a lot of them have dreadful records in Caribbean black entry) could create an imaginative programme to encourage Caribbean black students to aspire to more than they see in front of them at the bottom of the UK food chain.

Not being wanted, being written off is an awful death sentence to aspiration which has been the lot of generations of black kids in the UK.

If Oxford University considers itself to be some sort of colour blind toilet filter into which the British education system evacuates its students, then it is deluding itself.

The truth is it has a profoundly racist role in which cynical inertia is no excuse.

Do you think Oxford deserves to be criticised for its role in the black caribbean student entry row? Or that it has to protect its reputation for judging just on merit (and ability to pay)?
