Anushka Sharma
Anushka Sharma is an Indian actress and a former model that appears in Bollywood films. She was discovered by Aditya Chopra.
Sharma was born in Bangalore on 1st May 1988 to an army officer Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma and his wife Ashima Sharma. She has an elder brother named Karnesh. She did her matriculation from Army school and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and after that she shifted in Mumbai to begin her carrier as a model.
She stated that she was actually planned to become a supermodel and was not that much into acting. She started her carrier at the Lakme Fashion Week 2007 and since then endorsed many brands which included jewelry brand, Shampoo brand and many others.
Her first film was Yash Raj films production Rab Ne Bna Di Jodi (2008) opposite the king of bollywood Shahrukh Khan directed by Aditya Chopra. The film was a box office hit and her performance was enjoyed by critics. Taran Adrash of Bollywood Hungama stated “Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It’s no small achievement to share screen with an actor of the caliber of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end. After a gap of one year she then starred in Yash Raj films next production Badmaash Company(2010) as she was signed for three Yash Raj films. The film was a moderate success at the box office. Taran Adrash once again praised her stating “Anushka is a revelation. She looks stunning, her performance is livewire and the chemistry with Shahid is electrifying”.
She then starred in another film under Yash Raj banner Band Baaja Baaraat which was released on 10 December 2010. The film was directorial debut of Maneesh Sharma and became one of the highest grossing films of that year. Both the film and Anushka were highly praised by critics. This time Adrash wrote “Anushka is truly wonderful. The toughest part of her job must have been to speak like a typical Delhi Punjabi girl and she dose it so skillfully. For the first time in her 3-film carrier, a film rests mainly on Anushka’s shoulders as opposed to her prior films,
