Whenever there is a question about the most stylish and the hottest actor in Bollywood, the answer which comes to mind instantly is none other than Salman Khan. Here is a biography about this Dabangg Khan of Bollywood.
Salman was born on 27 December 1965 to screen writer Salim Khan and his first wife Salma. His stepmother Helen was also a popular actress and dancers in the 70’s. His two younger brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan also belong to Indian film Industry. He completed his early education at St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai and then moved to Scindia School, Gawalior.
Salman made his film debut by doing a supporting role in 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi. His first lead role as an actor was in 1989 hit film Maine Pyar Kiya for which he won Filmfare Award for Best Debutant. After that he appeared in several successful films like Pathar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa, Kurbaan and Saajan before experiencing a draw back during 1992-93 when all of his films were failed to do well. He then once again got successful after the massive hit Hum Apke Hain Kon (1994) opposite Madhuri Dixit.The film turned out to be one of the most successful films of Bollywood and Khan’s carrier as well. In1995 he worked for the first time with his biggest rivalry actor of present time, Shahrukh Khan in hit film Karan Arjun. In the later years he was seen a number of hit and moderately successful films like Khamoshi:The Musical, Jeet, Judwaa, Auzaar and smash hit Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya.
In 1998 he did a supporting role in Kran Johar’s directirial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and went on to win his second Filmfare Award. Next year he starred in Hum Sath Sath Hain: We stand United, Biwi No.1 and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam all of them were big hits at box office.
In early 2000’s he did many hits like Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000), Chori Chori Chupke Chupke(2001), Hum Tumharay Hain Sanam(2002), Mujh Se Shaadi Karogi(2004) and No Entry(2005). His 2003 film Tere Naam was a huge success. Khan was widely praised for his performance and looks. 2007 saw him films like Salam E Ishq, And Partner the later received a blockbuster verdict. Later same year he appeared for the first time in a Hollywood film Marigold: An Adventure in India.
After a number of flops during 2008-09 he then signed choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva’s Wanted (2009) which became a success. His first film in 2010 Veer was his dream project which he was planning to make since last 20 years however the film did’t done well at the box office. Next was his brother Arbaaz Khan’s production Dabangg. Dabangg made a record opening at the box office and established itself as the second highest grossing Bollywood film of all time after 3Idiots. For this film Khan received much critical acclaim and nominations at several award functions. After Dabanng Khan became the highest paid actor of Bollywood. His first release of 2011 was Ready, a film which became the third highest grossing film of Bollywood ever. In his recent Eid release Bodyguard he was seen with Bollywood’s highest paid actress Kareena Kapoor. The film broke many records at the box office and proved a massive hit in carriers of both the actors.
Some of his upcoming films are Ek Tha Tiger and Sher Khan.
