According to Cineuropa (via Jim Sturgess Online), the site for European Cinema, Michael Winterbottom’s latest project, The Promised Land, will begin filming in Israel in March 2011. The film is described as a political crime thriller set in British-ruled Palestine at the end of World War II - circa 1948, when the partition of Palestine and the subsequent creation of the state of Israel, it stars Jim Sturgess, Colin Firth, and Matthew Macfadyen.
