Watch: Matthew Macfadyen's return and cameo in BBC One's 'Spooks' series finale episode

Before most of us P&P fans of Focus Features' Pride & Prejudice (2005) film came to know Matthew Macfadyen as our favorite Mr. Darcy, who played the true love of 's Oscar nominated heroine Elizabeth Bennet, Matthew had done a few not so well-known (unless you're an MM fan, of course) other earlier films (ie. In My Father's Den, Enigma, Maybe Baby, and Wuthering Heights) and TV miniseries (ie. The Way We Live Now and Perfect Strangers), and most notably he was one of the original cast members (along with his real-life wife, actress Keeley Hawes, who played fellow MI-5 agent Zoey Reynolds) of the BBC One's very popular and successful spy drama series Spooks (best known to some of us, U.S. fans, as MI-5) as MI5 agent Tom Quinn (aka Matthew Archer). The series lasted 10 seasons, and just ended recently with MM's brief cameo return reprising his fan favorite Tom Quinn character. The series' ending wouldn't have had its closure if Tom Quinn wasn't on it. So, glad he was a part of it, even if it was a fleeting glance, after all, he was there from when the show started.

Matthew appeared in Spooks in the first 3 seasons (seasons 1-3 with 18 episodes starting from Episode #1.1, which originally aired May 13, 2002. Then, he left the series after his 18th episode and Episode #3.2, which aired October 18th, 2004 (as he was already cast as our Mr. Darcy for P&P 05 film and was filming the movie at the time, where a year later he would become a rising star and recognized around the world as Keira Knightley/Elizabeth Bennet's handsome, enigmatic, and charming Mr. Darcy and he had played various different roles in different TV and film projects as well as stage plays and voice-over commercials)....and 7 years later just when his latest film The Three Musketeers in 3D was about to be released in the U.S., his former TV series in the UK was about to end and of course, it's only fitting that he return in the show's final episode of its 10th season. So, the final 10th season's Episode #10.6, which aired last Sunday October 23rd on UK's BBC One channel added to his episode total of 19). Interestingly (and unfortunately), I've only seen the first 6 episodes of Spooks' season 1 or rather MI-5 (as it is known here in the U.S.) and the only DVD I own was MI-5, Volume 1 (which I ordered at Amazon more than a few years ago). I previously posted/talked about it at the MM forum in my P&P forum here.

Anyway, reposting this here from UK's Mirror:
STRIDING purposefully out of the mist, former MI5 agent Tom Quinn comes in from the cold – for the last ever episode of spy drama Spooks.

Tom, played by Matthew Macfadyen, 37, quit as head of counter-terrorism group Section D seven years ago.

Quinn was framed as a traitor, cleared his name, but sabotaged an operation and was decommissioned. He went on to found a private security firm.
