Emran Hashmi


Emran Hashmi is an Indian films actor who is often known by his name “Serial Kisser.” Emran’s films are mostly appreciated for having catchy soundtracks.
Hashmi was born to a Muslim father Anwar Hashmi and a Roman catholic mother Maherahh Hashmi in Mumbai. Hashmi have many family members which also belong to the film industry. His cousin Pooja Bhatt was also a well known actress at her time While his uncles Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt are film Producers collaborating with whom he has done several hit films. Imran studied graphics and animation from Sydenham College in Mumbai.
Emran started his film journey with a supporting role in Footpath (2003) which was a commercial failure. He then starred opposite Malika Sherawat in Murder (2004), a thriller which went on to become a super hit at the box office. After Murder he gained considerable popularity with in no time. He then did many moderately successful films like Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Apne and Kalyug. Zeher was absed on Hollywood’s Out of Time while Aashiq Banaaya Aapne was about love and friendship the soundtracks of all the three films became popular and were well received by Emran’s fans. His film Gangster (2006) was a semi-hit and was rumored to be based on the relationship between Monica Bedi and Abu Salem. He was praised by critics for his acting in Gangster. His next two films that year were Aksar and The Killer which were declared as box office failures. His first film in 2007 was Good Boy Bad Boy which didn’t do well at the box office. His next release The Train was also a flop however his last film that year Awarapan was a critical success and a did moderately well at the box office. In 2008 he did only one film Jannat in which he played Arjun involved in a healthy dose of love and crime opposite debutant Sonal Chauhan. The film had a 100% opening and was a super hit. The film was even appreciated commercially. He then starred as the perfect Prithvi, a painter in the horror flick Raaz- The Mystrey Continues, the film was a box office success. His next film Tum Mile opened to mix reviews and was rated as a failure. In 2010 he was seen in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai which was critically and commercially well received. Hashmi’s performance was also appreciated by critics. He then did Madhur Bhandarker’s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji along with OUATM co-star Ajay Devgn. The film was a moderate success. Later in 2011 he starred in Mohit Suri’s Murder2, a sequel to his 2004 hit Murder. The film was highly received by the audiences and was rated as a blockbuster.
Hashmi’s most awaited films are Raftaar 24x7, The Dirty Picture, Jannat 2, Raaz 3D and Shanghai. Among them The Dirty Picture is one of the most awaited films of 2011 which is going to be released on December 2nd. He is also in talks with Bollywoods one of the best directors Vishal Bhardwaj for his next project Daayan in which the director is keen to cast down actress Rani Mukerji opposite Imran.
On 14 December 2006 Imran married his long time girlfriend Parveen Shahani. On 4 February 2010 he became father to a baby boy and named him Ayaan.
