Videos: Watch director Rupert Friend promotes his short film 'Steve' starring Colin Firth and Keira Knightley

Rupert Friend just promoted the short film he directed titled starring , Keira Knightley, and Tom Mison on Rhode Island's local news ABC6 last night as it was screened in Rhode Island International Film Festival (one of the many festivals it screened/premiered to since last year).

Rupert chatted about the short film, Oscar Winner , and his desire to do a feature film as a director. The interview also featured a few clips from the short film.

Unfortunately, Keira Knightley was unable to attend the screening premiere because she was sick according to Rupert's interview in this Belfast Telegraph article:

Keira too ill for Rupert's premiere

Actress Keira Knightley failed to attend Thursday's premiere of a film written and directed by her boyfriend Rupert Friend because she was unwell.

Asked what was wrong with Keira - who stars in the short film - Rupert said she was feeling "under the weather".

Speaking ahead of the screening of Steve at Southbank's National Film Theatre in London, he described working with Keira as "amazing".
He said she was a "brilliant person and a brilliant actor" and he "couldn't have had anyone better" to work with on his directorial debut.

Rupert, who acted alongside Keira in the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice, said he had not planned on working with her on the project but he would jump at the chance again. Read full article here...

The teaser trailer doesn't give away much about Steve though, it only features Colin Firth (just sitting quietly in a bed... lol) in the title role, who is an increasingly regular visitor to his upstairs neighbours, Keira Knightley and Tom Mison.

Steve screens in the short film category (Close Friends and Family Only) at the London Film Festival on October 21st. Expect Rupert Friend to be there at the screening as he directed it, Keira Knightley, of course. Colin Firth and Tom Mison might be there as well.
