New images of Rupert Friend in upcoming 'Renee' film

The upcoming indie film, Renee starring Kat Dennings (in the title role), Chad Michael Murray and Rupert Friend (as producer David McKenna) just launched its official site yesterday (Wednesday). The website looks great with lots of images (including on set and behind the scenes photos featuring RF in a few of them, which you can see below...) and cool contents to get you interested in the film.

"Renee" The Movie, was filmed entirely on location in Orlando, Florida. The indie drama is based on the true story of Renee Yohe, whose battle with drugs, depression, addiction and cutting led to the creation of the charity group To Write Love On Her Arms.

The movie is about a troubled young woman whose issues with self-esteem, substance abuse and self-injury (“cutting”) will star the formidable Kat Dennings, with Chad Michael Murray and Rupert Friend (“The Young Victoria”) also int the cast.

The film is slated for a 2012 release, but no theatrical release date has been announced yet.

According to What's On Stage, Rupert Friend will star in a new stage production play Brimstone and Treacle.

Rupert Friend will star in the first major London revival of Dennis Potter’s controversial play Brimstone and Treacle, which opens at the Arcola Theatre on 4 May 2012 (previews from 2 May).

The play centres on Mr and Mrs Bates, a middle-aged, middle-class, North London suburban couple are struggling to care for their only daughter, Pattie, left severely disabled following a hit-and-run car accident. Out of nowhere, an apparently respectable young man arrives on their doorstep to change their lives forever... 

Rupert Friend returns to the stage following his 2010 West End debut in The Little Dog Laughed to play Martin Taylor. In Theaters Today Six Years Ago: Pride & Prejudice starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen

Six Years ago today (November 23, 2005), during the Thanksgiving week here in the U.S., the 6-time BAFTA (including a WIN for director Joe Wright, which he won the Carl Foreman Award for the Most Promising Newcomer and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Brenda Blethyn), 2-time Golden Globes (including Best Actress nomination for Keira Knightley), and 4-time Oscar nominated film (including Best Actress in a Leading Role nomination for Keira Knightley) Pride & Prejudice starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen expanded its release in U.S. theaters nationwide release (after its select cities debut early November 11th, which it debuted at #10 in limited release of 215 screens in a few select cities) with a strong $2.8+ million on its first opening weekend, and according to Box Office Mojo (with an average of $13,325). Its production budget was reportedly $28 million (estimated). Twelve days later, on this day, the 23rd of November, it expanded to a nationwide US theatrical release with an even more impressive $7,158,119 (#7, rank, 1, 299 theaters, $5,510 average). Its UK Cinema release anniversary was two months ago (September 16th), where it debuted at #1 with £2,529,947 (on 397 screens). Happy Birthday Rupert Friend!

Today (October 1st) marks the 30th birthday of Rupert Friend (aka P&P 05's Mr. Wickham). Rupert Friend was born October 1st, 1981 in Oxfordshire, England, UK.

A multi-talented actor/writer/director (he can sing too! Watch him sing in Mrs. Palfrey and listen to him sing in Lullaby movies!), Rupert has two short films (he co-wrote and co-produced) titled The Suicide Brothers (2010 with Keira Knightley and Tom Mison co-starred with him) and Steve (2011) starring Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, and Tom Mison), which he also wrote, co-produced, and directed. Recently, Rupert Friend was honored a Crystal Image Award for his work on 'Steve', which is currently screening in various film festivals here in the U.S. and abroad. As for his acting and movies, for those of you looking for a movie starring RF in a bigger, leading male role where he plays the good guy (handsome and charming too), check out and see Rupert in The Young Victoria(as Prince Albert) with Emily Blunt andMrs Palfrey at The Claremont(as Ludovic Meyer...see a video clip of him singing below...one of my favorite scenes with him in the movie). I highly recommend you check out and see RF in these two great films. You'll love him, he was amazing in both films! But if you prefer the bad boy type of roles he played (and quite convincingly as well...he's such a very good, underrated, and versatile character actor!)... then, watch him in his small (and still memorable) supporting roles in films like Pride & Prejudice(2005) as unlikable Mr. Wickham andThe Boy in the Striped Pajamasas the bad boy jerk Liutenant Kotler.

Casting News: Rupert Friend gets into 'The Haunted' while Rosamund Pike is testing to get cast in 'One Shot' with Tom Cruise

In two interesting casting news this weekend, Rupert Friend in The Haunted and Rosamund Pike in One Shot...

First, we have Rupert Friend, who is set to star in Intandem Films' The Haunted, a blend of psychological thriller with supernatural. Rupert will co-star with Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) in the lead. No info yet of what role Rupert will play. Based on the synopsis, I'm guessing he could be playing the ghost tormenting Kurylenko's character or another character. Hmm, It would be interesting to see if he was the former, lol. The Haunted is currently in pre-production with 2012 the likely completion date.

Synopsis

In other film casting news...

According to Hollywood Reporter, Rosamund Pike (along with The Pillars of the Earth, Any Human Heart, and Captain America's Hayley Atwell and Clash of the Titans' Alexa Davalos, whose Princess Andromeda has been replaced by Rosamund in the sequel of Clash of the Titans 2, now titled: Wrath of the Titans, which will be released March 30th, 2012) is reportedly screen testing and vying for a female lead role opposite Tom Cruise in one of his upcoming films, One Shot. Will Rosamund get the One Shot part? Best of luck to her! We'll find out soon, if she gets the part or not...

Tom Cruise's 'One Shot': Three Actresses Testing to Play His Leading Lady (Exclusive)

Tom Cruise may find his latest leading lady this weekend. 

Cruise is gearing up to make One Shot, a Paramount-Skydance adaptation of a 2005 Lee Child crime thriller. Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote Cruise's Valkyrie movie, penned the script and is directing

On Saturday, McQuarrie and the studio were reading at least three actresses for the female lead: Hayley Atwell, Alexa Davalos and Rosamund Pike.

Atwell is best known to US audiences as the female lead opposite Chris Evans in Captain America.
Davalos last appeared in Clash of the Titans as Andromeda and counts Defiance, The Mist and The Chronicles of Riddick amongst her credits.
 
Pike drew acclaim for her work in the British movie Made in Dagenham and Barney’s Version. She also appeared with Carey Mulligan in An Education.  

One Shot centers on a Jack Reacher, an ex-Army cop who gets sucked into the mystery surrounding the arrest of a sniperaccused of killing five random people in a shooting. The female role is that of tough lawyer and daughter of the discrict attorney.
 
 The studio is eyeing a fall shoot in Pittsburgh. Paramount had no comment.

Speaking of Rosamund Pike, there's another film that isn't listed on her IMDB profile, which this article has mentioned her to co-star with Samuel L. Jackson and Kristin Scott Thomas in "Running Wild."

He (Director Kevin Kerslake) is currently attached to direct J.G. Ballard's "Running Wild," starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Rosamund Pike.

Rupert Friend just promoted the short film he directed titled starring , Keira Knightley, and Tom Mison on Rhode Island's local news ABC6 last night as it was screened in Rhode Island International Film Festival (one of the many festivals it screened/premiered to since last year).
