Do Dump or Marry - Dawn of the Dudes

.

Zach Snyder's super Dawn of the Dead remake (which turns eight years old in a couple of weeks can ya believe it) was on television the other day and I couldn't help but get sucked in for the thirtieth time. It's so good! And also, so filled with attractive gentleman. If you're gonna get trapped in a shopping mall at the end of the world, there would be worse fates than being stuck there with these guys is all I'm saying. (I'd also like Sarah Polley to be there, but for different far less prurient reasons.)

Anyway if the zombie-pocalypse were happening I don't know that I'd bother marrying anyone - it would just become a big ol' fuck-fest until the end, if you ask me - but for the game's sake let us pretend...

You've got Jake Weber, Michael Kelly and Kevin Zegers there alongside you. Which would you pledge whatever little bit of forever is left to, which would you sneak off to the backroom for a solitary flesh-fest with, and which would you shove out  into the throngs of the undead?

And if you wanna substitute in the guy from Modern Family
by all means; he seems to know what he is doing.

I Am Link

.
--- Bell of the Ball - Kristen Bell has lined up a couple of projects, which please let one be good please! She's playing one of Adam Brody's ex-girlfriends in a movie adaptation of a Neil Labute play called Some Girls, in which Brody's character tries to make amends with a bunch of his exes before he gets married. Jennifer Getzinger (she's directed a lot of Mad Men episodes) is directing. The second project makes so much sense since she's basically a Disney Princess come to life I don't know why I never thought of it before - Bell's voicing the lead in an animated Disney movie. The movie's called Frozen and no it's not a cartoon version of that movie where those three douches got stuck on a ski-slope and wolves ate them but rather it's a long-gestating adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's story The Snow Queen.

--- Babies Crazy - One of my favorite Coen brothers movies Raising Arizona apparently turns 25 this week and The Film Experience memorializes the occasion with a take on Nic Cage's biker nightmare. Reading that monologue reminded me of the dream Tommy Lee Jones tells us of at the end of No Country and then all the dreams in A Serious Man and then of course Barton Fink's unravelling...

--- Meloni of Steel - Here are a couple of new shots from the set of Zack Snyder's apparently still-shooting Superman movie Man of Steel with some of the everlasting gobhotness that is Henry Cavill standing around in his super-suit... plus bonus Chris Meloni's head from a distance in army fatigues! I mean his head isn't wearing the fatigues, that would be weird, but all you can really see is his head slash shoulders region. Basically he is not flashing his ass, which is what we all really want. Anyway "everlasting gobhotness," huh? okay.

--- Lady Michelle - I haven't really been keeping up with Dark Shadows stuff because Tim Burton's burned me too many times for me to get too enthusiastic about this and Johnny Depp looks awful, but STYD posted a couple new pictures and I love Michelle Pfeiffer's look wholeheartedly. At least we know she'll be fabulous.

--- Museum Day - This is kinda out of place here amidst the movie news but Sufjan Stevens has a sort-of new song out - he's releasing an EP in a few weeks that's a collaboration with a couple of rap-type folks and Pitchfork has the first track. It's called "Museum Day." I haven't been able to listen to it yet so I don't really know what to expect other than auto-tune, cuz they say it has auto-tune. His use of auto-tune on his last album was amazing though, so...

I Am Link

.
--- Get Roman - Some attractive young chap named Jamie Blackley - he kind of looks like James Franco? - has been cast in what they're calling the sort-of-lead-role in the sequel to 300. Mkay. I suppose he looks good in a leather diaper then? He seems kind of scrawny, and if that tattoo is real they will have some extensive CG work to do on him. Hmm. Not that they don't basically turn the men in the 300 movies into cartoons, I suppose.

Also at that link they say that Rodrigo Santoro's been confirmed for the film to reprise playing the giant golden weirdo Xerxes, which I can't remember having heard was happening before. I did love the sight of him in his big spangled underpants.

--- Spider Bum - There's a gallery of Amazing Spider-Man pictures over here and it has several shots of Andrew Garfield in the costume - assuming it's him in most of them since he's got the mask on - that I hadn't seen before which is, of course, always something worth looking at. Especially one of the least touched-up clearest HQ versions of the infamous bum shot that I have seen, seen there to the right. Click it to grow, and grow, and grow. I will never ever get tired of that.

--- Z Man - Teeny tiny human being Gael Garcia Bernal is going to don the littlest black cape and mask you ever did see to fight thimble-sized villains as the lead in a new version of Zorro. they're calling it "a futuristic reboot," so I guess they'll be robots he's fighting, or whatever. Teeny tiny robots. Coffee-makers, perhaps.

--- Red Ruffalo - I clicked on this link because it was about Gregg Araki's next movie (it's going to be "a twisted police-thriller" of all things, called The Womb; even though I enjoyed Kaboom, his return to his old sophomoric stomping grounds, it'll be good for Gregg to shake things up, I think) but the link also gave news on another movie that sounds interesting - something called Red Light Winter, which will star Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup as best friends (you have me already, movie) and Kirtsen Dunst as the prostitute between them. Hot!

--- Fassycentric - The screenwriter for the second X-Men Muppet Babies movie spoke to MTV News and told them that this new movie will be "Magneto-centric," and does that really surprise anybody? That the world would want to focus in on Michael Fassbender? I thought not. Let's just hope they keep those snug trousers he wore that one time around for a reboot of their own.

--- And finally, I hear that Disney is bracing themselves for a big flop with John Carter? That would be a shame, we wouldn't mind staring at Taylor Kitsch in his tattered little costume for several more movies. (Although I hope they realize that if they'd had him totally naked like he is in the books they wouldn't have to worry, they'd be having a five hundred billion dollar opening weekend.) Plus the second book is where the story gets seriously anti-religion, and I want to see Disney try to squirm out of that! Anyway there's a big new gallery of pictures from the movie right here - lots Kitsch-nips on display - and AICN has a couple new clips, and this one where JC meets alien-pup Woola is pretty amazing. And not just because it involves a lot of Kitsch writhing around in his tattered little costume.

Pic of the Day

.

Via Man of Steel's Facebook page - just pretend Mister Mxyzptlk hit you with a shrink-ray and that it's not at all pervy that you're projecting yourself onto an actual little kid being cradled between Henry Cavill's loving latex arms.
