Filling Out The Bates Motel

.

Lotsa news on Hitch movies today - earlier we got that picture of Sienna Miller and Toby Jones in the movie about the making of The Birds, as well the word that Jessica Biel was joining the cast of the movie about the making of Psycho, and now comes more casting news for the latter and this is much much cooler - our love Toni Collette has joined the cast as Hitch's longtime assistant Peggy Robertson, and Michael Stuhlbarg is going to play legendary agent Lew Wasserman.

(Anybody else got a crush on Michael Stuhlbarg?)

Also Danny Huston will be playing a friend of Alma's while Michael Wincott will be playing... the infamous (is there any other kind?) serial killer Ed Gein? WTF! Ed Gein's the murderer that Hitch loosely based Psycho on of course (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is also based on him), but how he'll fit into this actual movie I don't know. Weird! And fascinating.

All About Hitch

.

There's the first photo (via) of Toby Jones and Sienna Miller as Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren in The Girl, which is about Hitch's strained relationship with Tippi during The Birds and all of the juiciness therein. Here's the original picture that they're riffing on:

This is not to be confused with the other movie called Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho (terrible title) that's got Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Hitch (not to mention Dame Helen Mirren as Alma Hitchcock).

The Girl is a BBC Two production so it's probably going to be considered less prestigious than the big movie star version, but if you ask me it's got its hands on the better story from Hitch's life - it's the stuff on the set of the The Birds where things really spilled over. Also they've apparently gotten Tippi to talk to them, which is a bit of a coup - will she spill what happened inside her trailer that infamous time at last? Dare to dream. Oh and Imelda Staunton is playing Alma in this one and she's much better casting than Dame Tits-a-lot.

Also in the news today is that Jessica Biel has been cast as Vera Miles in the ScarJo movie, which, ugh. No. Vera Miles was, last time I checked, a woman, not a linebacker.

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

...delivering packages door to door with Vince Vaughn.

(click 'em to embiggen) All this talk of people playing Anthony Perkins playing Norman Bates and so on put me in mind of Gus Van Sant's Psycho remake - it doesn't hurt that we coincidentally just did that film for a "Five Frames From ?" post earlier this week - and from there it was only a hop skip and a hop to remembering how cute Vince Vaughn was back then (let us not speak of now). These shots are from Clay Pigeons, which came out the same year and also had him playing a weirdo psychopath.

Naturally this led to me gathering up a billion pictures from several of his movies during that time to prove my point. Hit the jump for give or take a few all those billion.
