--- Young Girl - The female lead opposite Josh Brolin in Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy has been offered to Martha Marcy May Marlene star Elizabeth Olsen. I think this is terrific casting because my instinctual feeling upon hearing her name was a protective wince over what she'll have to endure, and that's about right.

--- Golden Globs - If you were following me on Twitter during the Oscars then you know I found the evening fairly abysmal - somebody send Billy Crystal to the glue factory, please - but instead of all my negativity why don't you take a gander at the ten things Nathaniel found interesting about the evening. Emma Stone totally was awesome.

--- High Octane - Kristen Wiig is going to star in an action-comedy from the writers of The Descendants. You know the ones - they stood behind a rambling egomaniac Alexander Payne and made fun of Angelina Jolie's leg. Yeah the one is the dean on Community, who I have a sudden crush on. That's them.

--- Hunger Olds - There are a couple new pictures from The Hunger Games over here, with new looks at Donald Sutherland as President Snow and Toby jones as Claudius Templesmith. Have we seen Toby Jones yet? And a better question: who the fuck is Claudius Templesmith? I can't remember. Should I go back and read the books? It's been quite awhile. It's probably better not to, see if I can finagle some surprise from it.

--- Eating Crowe - Seeing this news this morning that Russell Crowe is pretty much for sure going to play Noah in Darren Aronofsky's movie about the man who built that really big boat that one time, I'm reminded that I had a dream the night before last in which I saw new paparazzi pictures of Russell Crowe and he was looking hotter than he's ever looked. (Yes, these are the dreams I have now apparently.) I've never really been wild about Crowe but in my dream he looked very very good, like somebody had whittled him into an ideal form of what he could be. So, being reminded of this, I googled to see what he looks like now, and nope, he's still just him. 

--- Busted - While I'd love to have a third Ghostbusters movie with the old crew around one more time, I am tired as hell of hearing Dan Akyroyd go back and forth and back and forth about what's up with Bill Murray, so I hope his new quote about Murray absolutely not wanting to do it the end, is the end.

--- And finally, Fassy fans this is your chance to put your mouth where his eyes are (so to speak) - head over to Fassinating Fassbender and send Simone a note before March 15th and she'll include it on a birthday present they're gearing up to send the man for his upcoming 35th birthday. And keep it classy, folks. (That means limit the wang mentions to subtle innuendo at most.)

--- White Gunk shooting everywhere, it's the return of Spider-Man! And not just any Spider-Man, but the one that slapped Andy Garfield ass in spandex. Can't go wrong... well, maybe you can, who knows. There's a new trailer for the movie, watch it over here. I will see this movie because of my love for Garfield and for Emma Stone, but I found that first trailer that was all Spidey's POV as he flew between buildings more exciting than this more generic set-up one. Things I like here: the casting seems fun (Dennis Leary especially pops out), and the gymnastic fight scenes with Peter Parker flipping all around bug-like are nifty. But I hope they actually use that POV shot from the early trailer in the film, I was really looking forward to it, and it seemed a nice way to differentiate this from Raimi's films.

--- Man Or Machete - Robert Rodriguez is teaming up with Danny Trejo to make the Machete sequel nobody was clamoring for! Gosh I hope they bring back Jessica Alba, I really want that girl to keep getting work, don't you? (GAH.) Alright I kind of liked Machete, but e makes this while a version of Rose McGowan as Red Sonja rots in my memory and I get bitter, is all.

--- Filled With Dredd - I love Karl Urban but I think it's probably impossible to translate Judge Dredd into anything that doesn't seem dated and ridiculous, so these new pictures from the new film seem... dated and ridiculous, basically. 

--- The Runner Man - Not surprising, except for the fact that it took well over twenty-four hours to happen, is the news that the rumor that Harrison Ford would be in Ridley Scott's new Blade Runner movie was a whole lotta poppycock. Stop stop voting on that poll I posted, it's poppycock! Poppycock!

--- Spook Pysch - James Wan's movie about those paranormal investigators that worked on the Amityville house has a new name - it's now called The Warren Files, which if you ask me is better than what it was going to be called, which was The Conjuring. I didn't like The Conjuring, it sounds like some sort of role-playing card game. they've also cast the little kids for the movie, one of whom will hopefully be a serial depantser, constantly yanking down Patrick Wilson's drawers on screen. What? I have to come up with these things, it keeps me alive.

--- Muscle Mountain - A few new pictures from John Carter are online, see 'em here. They're not that exciting, since there's only minimum Taylor Kitch beefcake. So instead, check out this new shot of The Rock in the new GI Joe movie, in which he looks ridiculously huge. Big guys like this aren't usually my thing and yet I would climb right up The Rock and plant a flag on his head (if by "a flag" I mean... yeah, that). 

--- Ready Streep Go - If you haven't seen it already head over to The Film Experience where Nat had his readership rank their favorites of Meryl Streep's Oscar nominated performances. Here's where I admit that I have never seen Sophie's Choice. I know, I know. It's just sounds SO depressing, and not in a fun let's watch the world blow up Melancholia way. If I were ranking my favorites, Silkwood would easily be number one. I fucking worship Silkwood, it's a perfect movie and she's spectacular in it.

Been awhile since we checked in on the Spider-Man reboot front with our British boyfriend (well one of them) Andrew Garfield (outta the way, Emma Stone!). They're been releasing some new pictures lately, so here they be. Some of them where his face isn't showing who knows if that's actually him in the costume or not. It could be Emma Stone for all we know! It could be me, even. Oh did I just spoil the end of the movie? Whoops. I am Spider-Man you guys. Now you know.

Casting News: Emma Stone offered lead role for 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' film

Update 6/24/11: According to Deadline: Emma Stone Not Doing 'Pride And Prejudice And Zombies'
 
Variety reports that Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland, The House Bunny) has been offered the lead role: Elizabeth Bennet in the new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to be directed by Craig Gillespie (Fright Night, Lars and the Real Girl), which Lionsgate is releasing. The film is based on the tongue-in-cheek mash-up book by Seth Grahame-Smith, which is a re-telling of Jane Austen‘s “Pride and Prejudice” with a twist of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy fighting against zombies. So far, Stone's only been offered the part and is not confirmed to star in this film yet. We'll find out soon enough, if she is or not.

Recent Academy Award winner Natalie Portman (Black Swan), who was previously cast for the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet is still on board to produce this film through her production company, Handsomecharlie Films.
